Leeds Triathlon 2021

This weekend we travelled up to Leeds for a triathlon. Leeds is a big race that attracts competitors from all over the country.

Transition is a very large area so was crucial that I knew where my bike was. The swim was a 200m lake swim out past a buoy and then back in. There was a gentle slope into the water and we were set off in two’s, 2 seconds apart.

Exiting from the swim was a long run slightly uphill to transition whilst removing my wetsuit. I had chosen to swim in one but others had decided to go without.

It was then off onto the bike which was on a closed road. A steep uphill start with a few dead turns and sharp bends, the bike course was enjoyable for most.

Back into transition and off onto my favourite part, the run. The run was mostly on a incline and it was great to have supporters along the course to encourage us all. The finish was onto blue carpet and up a raised platform which will be where the professional athletes will compete tomorrow.

It was a great day with good results from all within the club.
