Beachborough newsRace Reports

Hever Castle, Castle Series, 26th Sept

I was the sole Beachborough entrant at this event.

The swim: Wetsuit swim, water temp was 17degrees, 400m distance.Lined up on the edge of the lake and had to jump into the water one by one, NO diving allowed. It was a straight swim to the 3rd buoy around it and back to the slipway which was slippery on the exit of the water.

It was mostly a stone pathway up to transition, then it became muddy up the hill till into transition. Big transition area, really confusing!

The Bike: 8.4Km distance
This was a 2 lap course, with mixed terrain; grass, gravel, dirt tracks etc. Definitely, an off-road bike was needed! There were also pedestrians to deal with too.

The Run: 2.5Km distance
The start of the run was an incline up gravelly paths, then ran along the side of the lake on the grass bank, then back onto gravel paths for the incline to the finish line.

Jarryd demonstrating a perfect wetsuit transition.

I finished 4th Boy (6th Overall) in 46:24.
