Eton Dorney Triathlon IRC Qualifier

At first, I thought the track was going to be slippery because when we were driving down it was forecast to rain, luckily it was dry and a good day. It was exciting to be where the Olympic rowing 2012 was held. I was watching the other races first and I saw that people were slipping on the mat so before the race I prepared myself for the mat. The water was warm at 23c, so it was a no wet suit race.

My swim was good, the water was clear so clear that just before I went under the bridge, I saw something moving in the water I think it could have been a grass snake, lake leech or a lake eel. When it came to the mat, I didn’t slip so that was good.

Before that the race I was worried about transition because before the race someone kept moving my kit, luckily in the race my kit wasn’t moved. The cycle route was nice because of the tarmac road and the visibility to see the other athletes in front, there was a point on the cycle route that was described as a dead turn that I was worried about but it was more like a round so that was good.

The best thing about the run was the flat ground, it was easier than other triathlons because it was only 3 laps and it appeared shorter than I had expected because it was only three laps. I would definitely recommend Eton Dorney, it is a very amazing triathlon venue for both athletes and spectators.
